What ScriptoriumGM Provides

• Web-based campaign management tools for tabletop role-playing games
• AI-powered content generation and assistance
• Data storage and organization features
• File upload and management capabilities
• Community features and integrations

Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable service but cannot guarantee 100% uptime. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience technical issues that temporarily affect service availability. We will provide reasonable notice for planned maintenance when possible.

Service Modifications

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of ScriptoriumGM at any time with reasonable notice. We will not be liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

Account Creation

• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You are responsible for maintaining account security
• You must promptly notify us of any unauthorized access
• One person may not maintain multiple accounts

Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use automated tools to access the service without permission
• Upload content that infringes intellectual property rights
• Upload content that is hateful, abusive, or harassing
• Use the service to generate or distribute spam
• Resell or redistribute the service without authorization

Content Standards

All content you create, upload, or generate must comply with applicable laws and community standards. We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable.

Your Content

You retain ownership of content you create and upload to ScriptoriumGM, including:

• Campaign notes, characters, and storylines you write
• Files and documents you upload
• Original creative content you input into the system

By using our service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide ScriptoriumGM's services to you.

User Content Representations

By uploading documents to the Service, you represent and warrant that:

• You are the copyright owner of the uploaded material, or you hold a valid licence, consent, or permission from the copyright owner that permits you to upload and use the material in the manner described in these Terms (including its processing by automated systems for personal retrieval purposes)
• The uploaded material does not, to the best of your knowledge, infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legal rights of any third party
• You have not received notice from any rights holder that your use of the material is unlawful
• You will not upload material that you know to be infringing

AI-Generated Content and Transparency

Our Service uses AI models (currently provided by Anthropic) to generate responses to your questions. You are interacting with an AI system, not a human advisor. When you ask a question, our Service:

1. Retrieves relevant passages from your uploaded documents using a vector search process
2. Sends those passages and your question to an AI model
3. Returns the AI model's response to you

Content generated by our AI assistant is created in response to your specific inputs and creative direction, and becomes part of your campaign materials when generated. AI-generated content may be subject to computer-generated work provisions under UK copyright law.

Important: AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. They should not be treated as professional advice. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated content before relying on it.

Your Documents and AI Training

We do not use the documents you upload to ScriptoriumGM to train, fine-tune, or improve any AI or machine learning model, including the AI models that power our Service. Your uploaded documents are processed solely to provide the retrieval and AI assistance features to you.

Our Intellectual Property

ScriptoriumGM's software, design, features, and underlying technology remain our intellectual property. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use ScriptoriumGM for its intended purpose.

Reporting Copyright Infringement

We respect intellectual property rights and expect our users to do the same. If you believe that content on ScriptoriumGM infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to:

Your notice should include:

1. Your full name and postal address
2. Your email address and telephone number
3. A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
4. The location of the allegedly infringing material on our Service (sufficient for us to locate it)
5. A statement explaining why you believe the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
6. A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, if submitted under US law, that you are authorised to act on behalf of the copyright owner under penalty of perjury
7. Your physical or electronic signature (required for US DMCA notices)

We will acknowledge receipt of your notice without undue delay and will investigate and take appropriate action, which may include removing or disabling access to the material.

Applicable Legal Frameworks

We process copyright notices in accordance with:

• UK law: The Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002
• US law (DMCA): 17 U.S.C. § 512
• EU law (DSA): Article 16 of the Digital Services Act

Counter-Notices (US DMCA Only)

If you believe your content was removed due to mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice including:

1. Your physical or electronic signature
2. Identification of the material removed and its prior location
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you believe the material was removed due to mistake or misidentification
4. Your name, address, and telephone number
5. A statement consenting to jurisdiction of the US Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if outside the US, any district in which we may be found)
6. A statement that you will accept service of process from the original complainant

We will restore removed material between 10 and 14 business days after receiving a valid counter-notice, unless the original complainant notifies us of court proceedings.

EU Users — Complaint Mechanism

If you are an EU user and content you uploaded has been restricted, you may lodge a complaint through our internal complaint-handling system free of charge within six months of the restriction, in accordance with the Digital Services Act. Contact us at copyright@scriptoriumgm.com to submit a complaint.

Repeat Infringement Policy

We have adopted and reasonably implement a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are found to be repeat infringers of intellectual property rights. We track takedown notices against user accounts and reserve the right to disable or terminate accounts where we determine, acting reasonably, that a pattern of infringement has occurred. We will not restore access to content covered by a valid takedown notice except in response to a valid counter-notice or complaint submitted in accordance with applicable law.

Patreon Subscriptions

Enhanced features are available through Patreon subscriptions. Subscription terms, billing, and cancellation are governed by Patreon's terms of service. We do not directly process subscription payments.

Refunds

Refund requests should be directed to Patreon in accordance with their refund policy. We may provide service credits at our discretion for service outages or technical issues.

Usage Limits

Different subscription tiers include different usage allowances for AI features. Excessive usage beyond your plan limits may result in temporary restrictions.

Service Disclaimer

ScriptoriumGM is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. While we strive to provide reliable service, we cannot guarantee error-free operation, continuous availability, or that the service will meet all your requirements.

AI Content Disclaimer

AI-generated content is created by automated systems and may contain inaccuracies, inconsistencies, or unintended similarities to existing works. AI responses should not be treated as professional legal, financial, or other advice. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated content before relying on it.

Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited as follows:

• We exclude liability for indirect, consequential, or special damages
• Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim
• Nothing in these Terms excludes our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or other matters that cannot be excluded by law

Consumer Rights: If you are a consumer, these limitations do not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Termination by You

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using account deletion features in the service. Upon termination, your access will cease and your data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy.

Termination by Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in prohibited activities, or if required by law. We will provide reasonable notice except in cases of serious violations or legal requirements.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use ScriptoriumGM ceases immediately. Data retention and deletion will be handled according to our Privacy Policy. Provisions regarding intellectual property, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution survive termination.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by English law. The English courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes, except where you are a consumer with statutory rights to bring proceedings in your local court.

Dispute Resolution

We encourage resolving disputes informally by contacting us first. If needed, disputes may be resolved through mediation or arbitration before court proceedings. Nothing in this section affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding ScriptoriumGM and supersede all prior agreements.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Assignment

We may assign these Terms or our rights and obligations to a third party with reasonable notice. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent.

Force Majeure

We will not be liable for any failure to perform our obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government actions, or third-party service failures.
